FIRE FIGHTER

Go north to the downtown fire station opposite the police station. Sometimes the firetruck takes a while to spawn, so go to the north-east corner of the building and wait if you can't see it initially. Get in the firetruck and press the up button to start the side mission.

Check your map regularly to plan the quickest route to the points shown. Douse the vehicles and people on fire. Avoid getting a wanted level at all costs. The time limit is quite short a first, but you'll get 5 second time extensions for each car fire you put out, plus 10 seconds per person that gets out of the car that you can douse, plus, if you manage to put out all the fires from all cars and the people in them, you'll get another time extension and some extra cash. Once you get past the first few levels you should have enough time extensions to make things much easier. On the later levels it gets harder to put out all the fires with so many people running around and some will die before you get a chance to douse them. You'll lose 15 seconds for each person that dies, but hopefully by this point you've racked up more than enough spare time.

Once you've completed 15 levels you will become fireproof, which will be particularly useful for a few of the Mendez brothers missions later on.

If you haven't got much machine gun ammo make a trip to Ammunation to get some for the next mission.
